Malware

This is Two Minute Tech Tips, I’m your host Lester Steward. In this series we are discussing Business cybersecurity and what you need to know to protect your business.

Malware is a term that encompasses most types of malicious dealings on PCs. The broad term could mean virus, ransomware, or adware, along with many others. We’ve spoken about most of these terms but it’s good to have knowledge of all the terms and what they mean to you.

The CISA says, “Destructive malware is malicious code that is designed to destroy data. Destructive malware impacts the availability of critical assets and data, presenting a direct threat to an organization’s daily operations.” Any company, big or small, doesn’t need the headache of dealing with any of these malicious actions. A small business can lose a lot of money if there is just a simple loss of productivity due to poor management of the security systems.

The most efficient way to combat all these issues is to have a partner on your side. IT partners that will prevent any of these threats from reaching a PC. And for the individual who doesn’t own a business but wants to stay safe, just be smart about where you go on the internet, be critical of anything that’s clicked on, and keep your PC and paid for antivirus up to date. Oh, and always always backup your data often.

On the next episode I’ll delve deeper into this subject with info about adware and the annoyance it can cause.
