This is Two Minute Tech Tips, I’m your host Lester Steward. In this series we are discussing Business cybersecurity and what you need to know to protect your business.
CPU or central processing unit of the PC is the captain of the computer ship, telling all the information and instructions what to do or where to go. CPUs have two basic parts, a control unit and arithmetic logic unit.
Control unit is just what it sounds like, this part of the CPU directs all operations coming from the software and inputs.
The arithmetic unit does calculations based on the instructions it’s given. This part of the CPU does many types of operations all having to do with logic calculations.
That was a bit of technical jargon just to give a deeper understanding of what’s going on inside the PC, there are hundreds of other pieces to the CPU. For business owners and consumers, the more interesting information is “what do I look at when buying”. You’re looking for a PC that will be future proof without breaking the bank. The best advice I can offer without giving exact recommendations, is to do some research and don’t just run down to the big box store expecting the salesperson to know anything. If you can’t make heads or tails of all the research, find a local tech shop and ask what they recommend for what you’re trying to accomplish.
On the next episode I’ll be discussing file storage options, it sounds boring but don’t worry I’ll try to make it interesting.
